Children can begin piano lessons when they are able to control their fingers and to listen attentively to short melodies, usually at the age of 5 or 6.
Kids need not worry about being bored and trying to sit still for long stretches — a most unnatural thing for young students! Activities will take advantage of students’ playful and creative energy as they explore sounds and rhythms, learn pieces, and compose their own melodies.
General music skills taught in group class are applied to the piano. Emphasis is placed on singing and movement to naturally guide music-making.
Lessons at the beginner level last 30 minutes and increase to 45 minutes after about a year, depending on progress.
